Scalinatella in NYC?

Has anyone eaten at this Italian restaurant on E. 60's? I have one night in NYC and was suggested to go there? Thanks.

We have been once, and will not be going back. Restaurant was tight. Waiters were hurried and rude. Hostess actually asked us to move tables after 2nd course was served. Food was way overpriced and mediocre at best. I am happy to pay top dollar for a good meal, wine and service, but we experienced none of these at Scalinatella. There are so many other amazing Italian restaurants in this city, DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER GOING TO THIS RESTAURANT!!! Don't believe me...check out all the negative reviews on Zagat.com

I suggest you check out Yelp for all the reviews you might want on that restaurant and many more!

If you want a really good Italian restaurant I recommend Quatro Gati which is just off 3rd Ave on 82nd or 83rd St. Some of the best I have ever had. Good service and reasonable prices.

I particularly do not like Yelp. I was astounded at their reviews. Usually on Chowhound and Menupages half the people do not know what they are talking about. Yelp, seems to be worse. I think they have a large following of younger people.

Have a look at menupages - a lot of poor - to say the least reviews. One cited $500 for dinner for 2 people - for that it should be exquisite - not routine.

Have never been there - or even heard of it - but we're on the west side and generally do either that or downtown.

With so many great options I would definitely look elsewhere. Do you want only Italian - and what is you price point/ambiance?

For 30 years, I have lived not too far from the restaurant and I don't know one person who has ever dined there. For wonderful Italian on the UES, try Spigolo.

Did any notice the OP was written on Mar 23, 02?

bonesdoc must really disliked the restaurant - dredged up this 7+ year old thread & registered to Fodors just to post a single reply to voice his/her disappointment with that restaurant.
