Sawgrass- Ponte Vedra Florida info please
Just found out that I'm going with husband in Sept on 4-day business/golf trip. I'm PRAYING that we'll be at Marriott, LOL. The gals won't have a car during the day. After beaching it, etc...is there anything around the area?(boutiques, etc)Transportation to these areas- what type, how much? I know that we're 30 miles south of Jacksonville. I've been to St Augustine years ago and remember it fondly, but that seems quite a trek. I appreciate any info about this area . Thanks!

You didn't say where you're coming from, but if you're not familiar with the SteinMart chain, you should definitely check out the really nice one near PVB -- and be sure to bring an extra bag to take home everything you buy. There are several other nice boutiques in that general area, and a great little restaurant that I can't remember the name of -- something Italian, the hotel can direct you and may have transportation available. If you have a few hours, you might drive up to Amelia Island/Fernandina Beach - probably an hour to get there, but allow several hours for lunch and shopping - a nice change of scenery from Ponte Vedra.

Just reread your post and saw that you won't have a car -- if possible, you might want to try to pick one up at Jax airport, if you're flying in there -- I've gotten great rates in the past through Hotwire, and having a car will definitely expand your options.

Thank you, Harriet! Actually, I went to SteinMart in Louisville yesterday and spent a fortune! They had 25%coupons in the paper, so we bought items for the house and clothes for the kids. One of my favorite stores.
You convinced me that we need another vehicle. I'm not afraid to drive in unfamiliar territory, so looks like I'll be at the helm. I take it that it's a pretty isolated area. No prib, I never have a bad time anywhere...
