Savannah vs. St. Augustine for Christmas lights

If there is anyone viewing who has been to both cities at Christmas time, I would really appreciate hearing your views on the merits of both and your recommendation for which to go to if we can only manage one of the two cities. Thanks much for any guidance you can furnish. We will be a 3 generation family of 6 including two 12 year olds.

We were in Savannah during Christmas holidays.
We took the "Holly Jolly Trolley" ride which was fun. A brief tour with Santa while singing Christmas carols.
We also took a ferry to a hotel (whose name I can't remember) where they had all sorts of ginger bread house. There were also fireworks while we were on the boat.
We enjoyed walking around the historic districts and walking along the river.
We REALLY enjoyed the food.

Sounds good. Thanks, Schmerl.

The ferry to the hotel would have been to the Westin on Hutchinson Island.
The historic district homes have more subtle holiday decorations usually. Certainly no Dyker Heights. But Savannah is beautiful in any season.

There's a boat parade of lights, but that's in late November -

There used to be a beautiful tour of homes and inns but that's in early December. I'm not sure they will be doing it this year due to Covid.

I used to go every year. Truly lovely.

I have not seen the Savannah lights, but Nights of Lights in St. Augustine is in the top ten of holiday light shows. https://www.visitstaugustine.com/event/nights-lights
