Savannah Tips

Hello - Just found out I will be going to a convention in Savannah April 5th through the 11th at the Marriot. I don't want to stay at the convention center. Are the beaches close enough to drive to and from? How about Tybee Island?

Kathy-Tybee Island less than a 30 min drive from Savannah.

Stay in a bed and breakfast Try the President's Quarters for a treat. The beaches are close enough to drive. And you will have a wonderful time.

Have lunch at Mrs. Wilkes Boarding House.

Tybee Island is ok - but might be a bit downscale from what you're expecting. Fort Pulaski, on the way to Tybee, is a worthwhile stop. There is a reasonably priced condo resort on Tybee, right on the water....Savannah B4each & Racquet Club. We checked it out, but did not stay there. http:\\www.sbrctybee.com

I second the Presidents Quarters - romantic rooms, good location, good breakfasts. Also walkable distance to most of Savannah sites. Tybee Island is close enough to spend time on the beach, also some good seafood restaurants - Crab Shack and Delfinos in particular.

Hi Kathy,<BR>I've been to Savannah several times, and I always have a blast... I highly recommend going to the Crab Shack, a GREAT restaurant on the hwy out to Tybee. Look for the signs - it's poorly marked, but well worth the search...
