Savannah -- Pink House one night, what's the second night?

Title kind of spells it out. Two nights in Savannah, The Olde Pink House is a favorite so that's one night. Best recommendation for the second night? Open to anything really great, but atmosphere (not a screaming loud place in particular) is important. Of course we'd like some "hint" at local cuisine. Oh and our nights are Sunday and Monday.

You know I ate there MANY years ago and it was truly memorable. But a few years back I asked -- probably here -- and got a lot of negatives. I just looked at what appears to be a very limited menu and it seems REALLY expensive for the menu itself. For example if you have the soup of the day and the pork chop with mac and cheese and slaw -- that's $72 with tax and tip -- $144 for two. They'd sure have to be wonderful versions of those in a city like Savannah to demand those prices! Recent comments?

Also what about Sapphire Grill? Maybe similar prices, but really interesting sounding choices. I'm thinking of been there, but don't seem to recognize it by the pictures.

I'm having some mobility issues so we'd like to keep it a pretty short walk -- from the Andaz.

I send SeaF's rec of the Crystal Beer Parlor. It's a family place, not fancy and a change from the Pink House.

The last two times we've been in Savannah we've eaten at Jazz'd Tapas Bar on Barnard St. between Ellis Sq. and Telfair Sq., but closer to Ellis. It's not that far from the Andaz, but you do go down a flight of stairs to the restaurant. Food is very good, and there is a wide variety. Go early if you don't want the live music. Or ask when it would begin if you do want it.

Agreed, Mrs. Wilkes is excellent, but they're only open for lunch Monday through Friday. No evenings, sorry to say.

I've eaten at Mrs. Wilkes a few times, Peter never has. Last time we got there and the line was a mile long in 99 degree heat, so we didn't stay. Still might try again for lunch on Monday.

Gray looks nice. Still curious if anyone knows anything about Alligator Soul? Or comments about Sapphire Grill?

The Pink House is open on Mondays for dinner. You could switch your nights.

Another restaurant that is open is Pacci, the restaurant that is attached to the new Kimpton hotel, The Brice. It is very good also. They make their own pasta. Wonderful dishes. Pricey.

22 Squares at the Andaz does a great breakfast. I've not eaten there for dinner.

B. Matthew's is nice for lunch. You don't want to go eat at Paula's?

Yes, The Andaz has very good food.

The Hugh Acheson place, The Florence, is good but it is Italian. If you live in an area with great Italian food, I might not bother. You need to take ann Uber to get there and the price is about $5 each way. We had a wonderful waiter, last name Klein. It is the new, modern, hip Savannah, great looking rustic spot.

Everyone we spoke to there was dismissive, to say the least, about Paula Deen.
