Stay at Edisto Island - about half way between Savannah and Charleston - a week is plenty of time to get a touch of both places - I'm in the minority in that I enjoy Savannah more than Charleston - Savannah is a beautiful city, chock full of southern charm but Charleston is nice too. Lots of terrific places to eat in both cities.
