Savannah Hotels???
How is the Days Inn in the Historic Distric, across from River Street?
|
I haven't stayed there but I'm pretty sure that the hotel is fairly new. It's in a very good location and it looks nice on the outside.

As Days Inns go its pretty nice; in fact I think Savannahs might be the original one too.

You will be able to walk to everything in the Historic District. I stayed there several years ago and was very satisfied. Other travel boards said it was "dark" and less well kept. I found a newly furnished room that was spacious and absolutely fine.

We stayed at the Days Inn. It is very convenient to the river and there are nice shops, etc. a block away. The only problem we encountered was a "dumpster diver" at midnight--he was throwing cans onto the street and he was making a lot of noise. We called the front desk two times with no results; finally my husband went down to the front desk and told them this guy had to go! Just a funny memory from our visit to Savannah!

I was wondering about the Marriott waterfront in Savannah. Has anyone been there?
|
The location is great, right on the river and convenient to River St activities. See if you can get a river view room--the shipping traffic is awesome! Have never stayed there so can't tell you much about the rooms (my husband ran a competitor hotel...the Hyatt). They do have both indoor and outdoor pools.

The Days Inn is great. We stayed there a few years ago and found it to be in a very convenient location to walk all over Savannah. It's also nice to be close to River Street and the Market area.

You might also want to consider some of the quaint little places on Defuskie Island.

To dolciani: Stayed at the Marriott Riverfront several years ago - it's a pretty nice hotel. Good thing is it's away from the noisier areas, but within a reasonable walk. I would suggest riverfront room.
