Savannah Hilton
The Hilton in Savannah got decent ratings on "rants and raves", but I haven't seen anyone mention it in the discussions..any feedback?

If this is the DeSoto Hilton, it's okay. It does not fit very well with Savannah architecture as it's fairly standard highrise construction. Rooms were average and location was good but not great. I'd try the Hyatt or one of the riverfront hotels, or maybe a nice B&B with charm. Savannah is a special town and picking the right accommodations can be a big plus!

Have fun, Alex.

I've stayed at the Desoto Hilton a couple of times. It is a typical older Hilton hotel. It is a few blocks off of River Street. It is within walking distance however. I agree with John that the Hyatt would be a better choice. There is also a new Westin that I've heard is really nice depending on your budget. If you are looking for more reasonable, convenient rooms, there is a Hampton Inn and Suites across from the Hyatt.
Have a great trip!

The Savannah Harbor Resort is great with the best views of the city at night. They have a boat that runs until about midnight to take guest across to River Street.
We stayed in a beautiful suite there, but have also enjoyed B&B in the historic district.

I stayed at the Savannah Desoto Hilton last spring. I thought it was just fine, with a good location, good rooms, and good service. True, it is a little generic for Savannah, but I thought I got good lodging for the money. My two cents.

Thanks Johnny
