savannah ga QUICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Leaving this Thursday for long weekend in Savannah with nothing planned to help mom celebrate 70th....
Will find food, but need advice on touring. Any interesting walking/trolley/tour suggestions??? Thanks |
Take the historic Savannah hop-on/hop-off trolley tour. Walk along the riverfront and check out the shops. If you have a car, run over to Tybee Island one afternoon, visit the lighthouse and have some seafood.
Even if you or your mother weren't Girl Scouts--tour the Juliette Low House--some stairs, but very interesting (the trolley stops there).
I have a long file I put together when planning our visit to Savannah. If you would like it e-mail me.
Trolley tour is best, hop on and off wherever you want. You can also get package price to buy the riverboat tour as well.
Consider taking a ghost tour/walk. It's an interesting way to learn about the oldest city in GA.
Take a tour of the Williams/Mercer house. Or, take a tour of any of the famous mansions there.
I really enjoyed the tour of the Owens-Thomas house on Oglethorpe square. It's owned by the Telfair Museum which is also worth visiting. http://www.telfair.org/buildings/buildings_default.asp

They have tours on horse drawn carriages which might be nice.
We loved the Telfair Museum and the bookshops on the squares. Have dinner at the Olde Pink House :) Get pralines on River Walk..they give free samples but that just gets you hooked faster :) |
