Savannah GA for Thanksgiving
Considering a visit to Savannah (and maybe Charleston) for Thanksgiving time. Not interested in a turkey dinner, but wondering more about what it might be like there late November weather-wise as we like to be outdoors. We found a great place to bird watch in Savannah River area last time (spring trip) so any advice about what we might expect appreciated. Don't mind wearing layers but is that a particularly rainy time of year, etc.?

The weather is typically mild in south Georgia in November. You can expect it to get into the 70s during the day. You might even be wearing shorts and short sleeves then. The fall months are usually drier than normal.

The weather is usually warm. I have spend many Thanksgivings wearing shorts. However some years it can be cool - like in the 50's. It is not usually rainy but it is always a possibility.

A few years ago we celebrated T-giving w/ some friends on James Is near Charleston. Deep fried a turkey, hung out in the backyard and talked...it was overcast but mild and the next day it was rainy and humid...you're at the coast in the South...

My husband and I spent Thanksgiving in Savannah a few years ago and really enjoyed our visit. The weather was warmer than I expected for most of the trip. I think I wore light sweaters/twin sets and sometimes just needed a regular shirt. I don't think we needed jackets until the last day. It was beautiful there, with mild weather and was so easy to walk all over the historic district. We did not have any rain the entire trip.
