I am a young lady who is looking to move South. I have heard Savannah is a nice place. I want the city plus easy access to the beach. Is Savannah good place to consider??

Savannah is a nice enough city but the crime rate is pretty high, especially for a smaller city. How about one of the smaller Florida beach cities?

Juls, Savannah's crime rate is not as bad as some would have you believe. I have a number of single friends who live in and around Savannah and love it. You can easily get to St. Simons, Hilton Head or Tybee Island. Savannah also has plenty of night life (good restaurants/clubs and music). SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design) also brings in a number of interesting people.<BR><BR>I'd pick it over a Florida beach city, where the senior citizen population outnumbers all others. No offense to seniors but I have another friend who lives in New Smyrna Beach and there are very few singles around.

If you want city & easy access to a beach, Savannah ain't it. It is not a city, it's a town. Now, Jacksonville - that's a city, with easy access to a beach & only an hour 1/2 from Daytona.

Savannah is beautiful, but if you are looking for another alternative, try Charleston, SC. Charleston is a great city with numerous beaches to choose from that are within easy access of the city. I would move there in a heartbeat if I had the opportunity!!!
