Savannah food & piano bar
Hi everyone. This is a 2 part question. In early December me and my wife will be arriving in Savannah on a Wednesday night on a late night flight. We will get to our hotel, the Hampton Inn historic district around 11 p.m.
Where can we eat that late at night? Bar food will be ok if it is a nice place. Also, one of the nights we are in Savannah we would like to go to a piano bar or a jazz bar whatever, and hear some soft jazz. We are in our 50's. What do you guys recommend? Thanks a bunch.

For the late night arrival, you may want to grab a bite to eat somewhere off the interstate on the way in from the airport (Waffle House, etc.) I know from recent experience that the only place serving food after 10 pm on River Street is Kevin Barry's, an Irish pub. We paid the extra cover charge to hear the featured singer and both were fine. Another option MIGHT be the downstairs piano bar at the Olde Pink House, but I'd check first to see if how late they serve appetizers. Other than those two options, I can't think of anyplace serving food late at night in the historic district.
DO eat at the Olde Pink House and/or head downstairs to enjoy the fire and music of the bar. I googled to find their hours and the reviews on the Yahoo travel sight were wonderful. The food there is wonderful any time.
There are a couple of options to hear live music on River Street. You can just walk and stop in when you hear something you like.
And, if you've read "The Book", the Lady Chablis performs once a month in Savannah. The Williams House is now open for tours as well.
There is usually a walking tour of the B&B's in Savannah the first week of December. My mom and I did that several years ago and really enjoyed it. I got to see the beautifully decorated interiors of $300+/night lodging that I'll never pay to sleep at!

You didn't ask, but Hampton Inn is a good hotel in great location - we stay there when visiting our son, a student at SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design). Breakfast buffet is good, service excellent, and parking is reasonable, either in their garage or city garage across the street.

This may not be your style, but at the Market there is a fantastic pizza joint called "Vinnie Van Go Gos" that serves until about 2am or so. It is still busy around there with bar hoppers etc. It is not super close to your hotel but it is a safe walk.

Hi-Just got back from Savannah. Went to a place called Jazz'd near or in City Market. Young singer did all Frank Sinatra tunes -- was really fun -- they have jazz other nights -- seemed to be very popular, upscale place and they make a great Cosmo. Have fun.

Just want to second the suggestion for jazz'd...we were there Labor Day weekend and saw the young "Sinatra" performer. It was a great night! Didn't eat anything (it's a tapas bar), just went for after-dinner drinks, but heard the food is very good, too.
