Savannah dining for a special occasion

My parents and my husband & I are meeting in Savannah in February to celebrate my mom's 70th birthday. We'll be there for 2 nights & I've been reading about different restaurants with a few that seem to stand out: Local 11 Ten, The Sapphire Grill, Bistro Savannah all look very good. There are a few others we might consider. Any input from those who have dined at these or have another favorite & could you tell me what made it a great dining experience for you? Thank you!

It's not in your list, but I can't recommend Noble Fare highly enough. It was so good, we ate there twice on vacation (which never happens for us). The food is amazing and the owners make you feel right at home. We celebrated our anniversary there and they made sure it was a special occasion. In fact, I would say it's in my list of top 5 restaurants, which is kind of a bummer since I live in Las Vegas. :))

Thank you! That was actually one of the ones we were considering, but I forgot to put in in my inquiry!

ABSOLUTELY - NOBLE FARE!!

If you want something with fabulous food but very casual while in the areas, consider the Crab Shack - Where the Elite Eat in Their Bare Feet! It's on the causeway on the way to Tybee Island

Thank you for that suggestion, Mom23rugrat! If we make it out to Tybee to see the lighthouse, that would definitely be a consideration!

I would suggest Elizabeth on 37th. It is easily one of the best restaurants in the southeast (has been named that) and the food is spectacular. The service is some of the best I have ever had. When we lived in Savannah that was our favorite and now we eat there everytime we go visit!

Sapphire Grill and Bistro Savannah are modern and interesting and the food is great. Think martini bar atmosphere. Elizabeth is more elegant in a beautiful old home and appropriate for the occasion, like a glass of fine wine.

Il Pasticcio is a fantastic fine Italian restaurant on Broughton Street. Also very modern.

Crab Shack is a fun touristy seafood joint. Also, consider North Beach Grill on Tybee. Excellent food served on paper plates.

Thank you again! I would love to treat my mom to a "Gary Danko" (San Francisco) type experience in honour of her birthday with incredibly delicious and creative food, wine, & service. I also like the idea of incorporating local, southern flavors just as Gary Danko adds "Californian" to its French menu. It is really appealing to me to look at the menus online & see that several try to use local, sustainable foods. I also appreciate, growingup, your description of the atmosphere of different places.
