Savannah Challenge: Dinner for 100

I have apparently waited too late to book the Old Pink House for a late October birthday party (turning sixty five). I anticipate the group will be about 100 people. We have already booked Lady and Sons for another meal). If you have suggestions I can add to this list or reason to remove one of them from consideration, please let me know. We are looking for something a little more formal than Wileys or a brew pub, but it doesn't need to be elegant.
a. Corleone's Trattoria
b. Noble Fare
c. Pirates' House
d. Vic's on the River
e. Sapphire Grill

Thanks for any help you can give me.

That would be Savannah Challenge: Dinner for 100.

Hi CM,

That's too bad. I've only been to Vic's and I know they have room for a group that size.

I like your original post title!

Thanks, Sue. Unfortunately it seems to be wedding season in Savannah and Vic's is booked as well. And here I thought I was getting on this early!

I don't have comments on your list but the Pink House could probably host a group that size.

Oops! Didn't read your first sentence. Sorry.
Nevermind...

My 2nd favorite (after the Pink House) is Garibaldi's - a sister restaurant. They can host 100. Worth checking into.

Near City Market -

ps - Okay. I'll say it. I'm not a fan of the Pirate's House - although Fodorites have been there and liked it.

Two other options may be the Mansion on Forsyth - which would be nice weather for strolling the park before or after and maybe their new sister hotel, the Bohemian. Their Rocks on the Roof may be perfect - with a view of the river.

That Rocks on the Roof is nice. I only had a cocktail there but the view is great.

And it looks like we have a winner here...actually two of them. I have contacted Garibaldi's (recommended by the events manager at Vic's since they were already booked...did not realize it was a sister property to Old Pink House)and will try to book Rocks on the Roof for the preceeding night since we are having a very late lunch at Lady and Sons. Given that it is Halloween weekend I think most of us will be doing some kind of costume thing so the Rocks on the Roof looks like it would be huge fun. When we did our sixtieth birthday party in Charleston we had one event on the roof of the Vendue and it was a great success.
I am delighted with these suggestions, Ladies, I will let you know how it works out.

Yay! Both venues are wonderful! Rocks on the Roof would be FABulous with costumes. I love Garibaldi's ALMOST as much as the Pink House.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I already have my costume! The hard part is waiting till oct!

Wow, Rocks on the Roof looks fantastic! Happy Birthday in advance.

I was just going to post that we loved Garibaldi's .. been a while since we were there :) but the space was just fantastic, loved the location and the service stood out as great.
Halloween sounds fun, go on a Haunted Savannah Tour that night !

Scarlett Mar 13th, 2011 06:15 AM

Don't rush it cmc ... October and another year older will come soon enough :D
Make the most of being a kid while you can ((L))

suewoo Mar 13th, 2011 06:56 AM

Haha. cm what will you wear? I was Cyndi Lauper once. It was fun being her.

cmcfong Mar 13th, 2011 04:14 PM

Oh Scarlett, thanks for the endorsement. I am working out the details with Garibaldi. Should be ideal for us...you know how I love those birthdays. We are doing a champagne picnic in the cemetery one night!
nanabee, doesn't it look fun? Can't beat Fodorites for suggestions which are still under the radar on other sites. I am delighted.
Sue, no spilling the secret in advance. I will just say Cyndi would approve!

We were having dinner at the Pink House when I looked out the window ( we were seated at the window, at the most perfect table upstairs) and I noticed a group of tourists taking photos with a guide. The waiter saw and said something about the Ghost tour and that the Pink House was haunted. I said " Really ?" and he went on to tell us quite seriously about the ghost that walks up the stairs from where the bar is now, past our table and off to some spooky region in the house ..
I am sad to say that we finished our meal, took as long as we could with dessert and never noticed any ghostly figures wafting past to the other room.

suewoo Mar 13th, 2011 05:39 PM

The first time I went to Pink House the hostess walked me down to the bar and told me about the ghost. I got so side tracked by those cheese straws I forgot to pay attention :D

cmcfong Mar 14th, 2011 04:21 AM

The plan is to have dinner at the Old Pink House early in the week when our group is smaller. I will keep my eyes out for ghosts and cheese straws....not necessarily in that order.
