Savannah B&Bs May?

My husband and I are planning a 3-4 day trip to Savannah in May and are looking for a great B&B or Inn to stay in. Previously I had heard Mansion On Forsyth Park and the Gastonian were very nice, but recent reviews don't look very favorable. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Two B&B associations -- Association of Historic Inns (www.historicinnsofsavnnah -- and Romantic Inns of Savnanah (www.romanticinnsofsavannah.com) offer a wide arrange of quaint guest houses to opulent mansions. I think you will find that because the B&B experience is so personal, it can sometimes be subjective. A cozy small B&B on Greene Square and near the riverfront is Green Palm Inn (www.greenpalminn.com). An off-the-beaten path choice (near Forsyth Park) might be Azalea Inn, with a swimming pool and beautiful gardens. If you prefer a "handsome" inn, you may try Foley House Inn on Chippewa Square, (www.foleyinn.com). All three have innkeeper owners managing the bed and breakfast property.

Myself and 5 gals stayed at The Hamilton-Turner Inn a few years ago. Can't remember which square it is on. Very nice and the folks there were great. Good breakfasts and happy hour.

Avoid the Gastonian Inn. Within an hour of check-in, my allegies were awful. When we finally thought to look under the bed next morning it was DISGUSTING. Dust had been there for MONTHS. The bathroom similarly filthy. Every other unoccupied room I looked into was the same. Nothing moved and dusted.

I began to wonder if they ever washed the bedcovers or matteress protectors. UGGGHHHH.

Our blinds didn't work and one was missing. Other rooms had the same problem. Our fan and overhead were also broken. (when had the fan been dusted?) Everything looked tired, cheap, and when you looked closer, really unclean and uncared for. Who needs to pay the big bucks they are asking for a room?

The Gastonian is no longer Relais material (although they let you believe it is without actualy saying they're not)-- new owners look like they "frankly, my dear, don't give a darn".

The Foley House Inn is well reviewed.

A friend enjoyed her stay here -

Pricey, but the Ballastone is very nice.

Thanks! We decided on the Eliza Thompson House, we heard great things about it!

I also am going to Savannah in May. We have decided on the Azalea Inn. Although the B & B has gotten wonderful reviews on Trip Advisor, I have not seen one post mentioning the establishment on this board at all. Perhaps I did not go back far enough? If anyone has any info about the Azalea Inn, I would appreciate any insights.

Thanks
Linda

My wife and I have just returned yesterday from Savannah. We stayed at the Kehoe House B&B. Being a smaller B&B we were treated as royalty. In our 45 years of travel we have not found comparable lodging. From the moment we checked in the staff accommodated our every wish. For your complementary breakfast make sure to order the bananas Foster french toast (to die for!!).
