Saturday lunch recommendation near Daley Plaza – Chicago?
We (me, husband and our 6-year-old daughter) are heading to Chicago on Saturday for our annual ‘Christmas in the city’ visit and are looking for fun lunch recommendations near Daley Plaza. We love Grand Lux Café, but our plans will likely keep us closer to the Art Institute, Macy’s (how weird to type that!) windows and the Christmas market and tree at Daley Plaza. Any other suggestions for a fun and casual holiday lunch in the city? We like all kinds of food, though Asian isn’t high on the 6-year-old’s list.
Thanks!

Italian Village has a wide assortment of standby dishes, and you can sit in a grotto-like setting. The Berghoff just reopened as 17 West, but is just the same inside as before, with a lighter menu. Both are good for kids - Heaven on Seven may be too spicy or unusual, depending on the child.

You have many choices.
www.metromix.com for some close to State or in Theatre District areas, where you will be.
Atwood Cafe comes to mind, as a little more money, but you might like their menu. Golden Bowl, if you child likes Chinese. That one is extremely informal and budget range in price.
Petterino's might be fun at lunch, I never have tried it for lunch, just dinner. I think that's the one I might do myself next time.
