Saratoga Springs in Winter?

I've stayed in Saratoga in Spring and Fall, but what is there to do in the immediate area at this time of the year?
The types of things I like to do (picnic, visit historic sites,, etc) aren't suited for January. I like easy winter sports too (no downhill skiing) but I don't know if there's enough snow on the ground for x-country or snowshoeing.
Any/all suggestions welcome

There is plenty of snow on the ground for cross country skiing. The area got around 8 inches of new snow today.

I'm not familiar with specific XC ski locations but I believe some of the golf courses rent equipment. You might want to contact somewhere like Saratoga National.

Downtown Saratoga Springs is still a lovely town - shops and restaurants are all open, and you can still visit the National Park/Battlefield.

Also I believe the Racing Museum is still open - but do double check.

Topping for more ideas

Umm, when school is back in session, maybe there are some events going on at Skidmore? They have a new music hall, and the Tang Museum always has exhibits. The college also has its own woods, which might be good for xc skiing... (I was going to suggest downhill skiing at Gore Mountain, but I guess not LOL.)
