Sarasota too cold to swim in March?

Planning on going to Sarasota last week of March. Water too cold to swim then? Thanks

Often go to Sarasota in March, and have often been able to swim. However, a lot depends on what you're used to. Sarasotans wouldn't consider swimming in water much cooler than 80, while Mainiacs and Canadians are thrilled if it's over 60.

Can you give me an idea of the average water temps in late March there? Thanks.

Googled "'average water temperature' Sarasota" and got this: which says March's average is 72 (April's is 76).

National Oceanographic Data for Gulf and Atlantic locations has coastal water temperatures month-by-month.

linda8, air temperature affects perception of water temperature, too. If you Google, I'm sure you can find average temps for the week of your visit. I think it was very nice of Cassandra and like2 to look up water temps for you; we locals don't tend to carry thermometers to the beach!
