Agree with AAFF regarding Helmsley, older and nothing special but might be closer to your budget than many others. Hilton is in the middle of LBK, like AAFF said and not very convenient to anything and from my own experience (stayed there for a getaway weekend a year ago) in need of renovation.
I also live here and for the life of me can't remember whether or not the Holiday Inn is still a Holiday Inn. Regardless, it is in a good location and even though across the street from the beach, has great gulf views from gulfside rooms and only a block from St. Armands. Regardless, I think getting a beachfront hotel for $200 might be a bit tough.
