Sarasota, FL Restaurant Suggestions

I'm looking for some restaurant suggestions in Sarasota. I've spent a lot of time in the area (LBK, St. Armands, Venice), but other than shopping, I haven't gone to too many restaurants in Sarasota and I am looking for some good places for an upcoming trip. I LOVE the Columbia and make a point of going every time I'm in the area. I'm pretty open but some place with good seafood would be nice. Please, no suggestions for any of the Amish restaurants in town. I've been to a few after being pressured by family members and it's just not my favorite kind of food.

Thanks in advance.

Steaks and seafood - Hyde Park Steakhouse in downtown Sarasota (http://www.hydeparkrestaurants.com/), very high end and expensive but worth it.

Flemmings Steakhouse is also very good.

Seafood - Bonefish Grill (www.bonefishgrill.com), not as expensive but very good.

also, for more relaxed night out try

Siesta Key Oyster Bar in the Village, inexpensive, fun and includes music on most nights.

Have fun visiting our beautiful city!

I liked the Hillview Grill, I think we went twice, once for early bird special, (grouper)came with asparagus, was rich but quite good, and once on a Thursday when burgers and beers were featured You can spend a littled or a lot. It is popular with old and young alike. There is no Hill or view. It's in the medical area I believe.

We liked Trader Vics out east. But nobody has mentioned the Amish place...Yoders Restaurant on Bahia Vista? Yummy! Nor Dutch House on Beneva Rd?

Peggy, thanks for the Hillview Grill suggestion.
Bill, thanks but as I noted in my initial post, I'm just not a fan of Amish food.

Whoops, sorry I didn't see that about the Amish food...which I do love! We spent a week in Sarasota with an Elderhostel program focusing on theatre and it was great. Also Ringling Museum etc. And then explored general area with our daughter.

Bill, I know, a lot of people love Amish food but I grew up in PA and think I was overexposed to it.

The Columbia Restaurant on St Armands Circle is outstanding, sister restaurant to the original in Tampa. High end Cuban food.

Amazing visit in one of my favorite places.

PA_Kathy, thanks for suggestion for Libby's; had drinks and appetizers tonight and it was great. The Columbia was as good as ever, and had a nice lunch yesterday, with my favorite the combo with the 1905 salad and Cuban sandwich.

Still don't get the Columbia restaurant deal. I've, we have, visited it about 3-4 times and walked away very disappointed every time.

To us it's a tourist trap with mediocre food options. YOMV.

Glad to hear that you're having a nice time in our beautiful beach front city. Enjoy!!!

Totally agree about your beautiful beach front city. It is one of my all time favorite places. Regarding The Columbia, I always get the same thing and it's consistently enjoyable, but you have a lot of great restaurant options.
