I like Inn of the Governors and the rate includes a terrific breakfast.

There's been a lot of posts on this same subject lately. If you do a search, you'll find plenty of opinions on the best Santa Fe hotels.

My vote is vrbo.com. :)

My two cents -- do not consider Bishop's Lodge. It used to be a charming, lovely place that was worth the schlep back and forth to town (all of maybe 10 minutes!) However, it has been purchased several years ago by a corporation so has lost all the charm and now caters to large groups/office retreats so definately not the place for a nice getaway. Also, lots of construction going up around it as they are putting up condos on the land around the hotel.

Inn on Alameda is cozy with nice rooms and nice european breakfast.

Just down the street from there is La Posada which has some beautiful rooms with a spa and restaurant. Hot and cold on their hospitality.

El Rey is charming but you are not within walking distance to the plaza. Just a few minutes away, though.

Inn of the Five Graces is very quaint and charming. Located just off the main plaza area. Worth the splurge. Rooms are all decorated differently. Lovely host and great hospitality. Not to mention you can walk home after a few margaritas from the Pink Adobe's Dragon Room Bar!

As mentioned, do a search on this subject. We go quite often so if you have any other questions feel free to ask!

Under 400 a night, I'd pick La Fonda or Inn of the Anasazi.

We stayed at El Farolito last fall and loved it. Just tried tonight to book it again for the Wine & Chili Fiesta this fall... it was booked... bummer! So we're going to try Inn on the Alameda, sight unseen. I don't think we'll be disappointed. Inn of Five Graces also looks very cool, at least from the outside. But the website pics of the inside kinda steered us away; the rooms don't appear to have the know-it-when-you-see-it Sante Fe feel.
