santa rosa hotels??? Too far from wineries?
We are looking for a hotel for 2 nights in the Sonoma Valley area...is Santa Rosa an option for hotels? Or is Santa Rosa out of the way for the wineries?
We are on a budget...Jack London Lodge in Glen Ellen was an option, as well. Any recommendations or ideas??? Same for wineries ideas. We will be there for two nights in December. Thanks:-) |
My son recently took his Peanuts-loving girlfriend to the Charles Schultz Museum. They stayed at the Hotel La Rose, which they loved. It is #1 on Tripadvisor and they only paid around $109/night for a very nice room. :)
Dinner at the hotel restaurant, Josef's was also very good they reported. www.hotellarose.com is the website address. Happy Holidays! ***kim*** ((f)) |
Santa Rosa is too far away from Sonoma and Napa. We stayed 2 weeks ago just off the Sonoma square at the "Inn at
Sonoma" - cute, very clean and in a great location. Give them a try. The prices were very reasonable. |
There's a Doubletree near Healdsburg that you can get for about $55-$60 on Priceline. It's very centrally located for the wineries in Sonoma Valley.
If you have never bid on Priceline before, read biddingfortravel.com very carefully before bidding. Once you win a bid, you're stuck, so know what you are doing before you bid. Good luck! :) |
We stayed in Santa Rosa last March. It's a good spot for traveling around the wineries in the Russian River Valley.
wineroad.com and visitwineroad.com Some great links for winery itineraries/day trips in the Healdsburg area. ((b)) |
Santa Rosa is not far from the wineries. Unless you consider 10-15 minute drives to, say, Matanzas Creek, Ledson de Loach, etc.
Also, it's only 20 minute away from Russian River Valley and about 25 minutes from Dry Creek valley wineries. There's a gazillion of wineries in these areas. Although, I would still prefer to stay at Healdsburg. |
AS ET said, Santa Rosa is quite central to Sonoma County. I know because I live
about 15 mins to the south :) You'd be only 10 minutes from the town of Healdsburg just North of SR and numerous wineries in the surrounding area. Check out wineroad.com Go east 15 minutes on Hwy 12 and you'll be in the Valley of the Moon/Kenwood area. Plenty of options for 2 nights. Another good websire for Sonoma county is sonomacounty.com You'll see all ranges for any budget for a hotel. The wineries here are all decked out for the Holidays, and the crowds are down, so it's a perfect time to visit. Welcome ! R5 |
WOW!
Thanks for all your advice...we went with the Double Tree. Are really looking forward to this trip! Any recommendations for dinner? We will be in the area for two nights and I love Mexicain (lived in Mexico for a couple of years)& italian and my husband loves french. We are also looking for organic wineries. Does anyone know fo any in the area? Thanks for all the advice:-) |
My personal favorite, Fountain Grove right off the freeway, I find perfect to explore any direction, and their in house dining Equis. I always look forward to staying there and having easy access to all my adventures.
