santa monica/man beach marriott
 

hi <BR><BR>planning to visit LA last week of march<BR>wanted to know which area is nicer/safer<BR>santa monica or man beach. would like to stay<BR>at the marriotts also. Any input if these hotels are nice or if there are other comparable hotels in the area that may be nicer.<BR><BR>thanks <BR><BR>tom

just returned from a stay at the JW Marriott in Santa Monica. The area seemed perfectly safe, lots of nice walking on the beach &amp; 3rd street promenade. The JW Marriott was o.k. if you can get it for a good rate. I was expecting more from it, though, because I paid for a premium room that felt like a nice 3 star hotel...

San,<BR>Are you referring to Le Merigot or another Marriott property? We're booked at Le Merigot in a couple of weeks and I haven't heard much about it. Hate to spend the $$$ if it's not worth it...

hi,<BR>yes, we stayed at the LeMerigot which is a JW Marriott. We paid about $300 for a &quot;deluxe ocean view&quot; room. If I'd paid $100 for the room, it would've been fine, but for the price, I expected a spacious, well above average room with a view and it was not. Barely a 4 star hotel, nowhere near a 5 star as rated by expedia. Good location, comfortable bed, the hotel itself had a nice ambience that did not continue to our room. Basically room needed an overhaul! :)!

San,<BR>Thanks for the reply. We're paying $169 a night for a non-ocean view room. Would you (or anyone) have other hotel suggestions? They all looked pretty pricey to me so $169 wasn't bad.

i also got a rate for $169. The marriott<BR>at man beach. has to weekend rate of 114<BR>with breakfast. I was wondering if this<BR>area was safe also.<BR><BR>thanks <BR>tom<BR>

The LeMerigot for $169 is fine. Just don't expect a 5 star! Oh, and our room service breakfast for 2 cost $87! (That was for 2 American breakfasts and 2 mimosas!) That seemed very steep to me :)!
