While you can get to the ski are from the tram, it is not the usual way for skiers to get to the main ski area. The base lodge has parking lots, restaurants, ski rentals, and all of the lifts originate from there.

The tram is in Albuquerque and and Volcanogirls friends are going to Santa Fe.
