Santa Fe trip timing

I'm trying to preplan a trip to Santa Fe. Is late April too early? Where I live it seldom gets over 70 so cooler temps aren't such a problem. However, DH may want to spend one day on a Harley and I wouldn't want snow etc, still on roads.

Is the first week of May better? I read somewhere this is off season so are room rates lower? Is it warm enough yet to eat outside in a courtyard?

Spring is windy, but snow shouldn't be much of a problem by late April. You could get a surprise, though.

Wear layers and you can do anything you want in Santa Fe.

Lilacs against adobe. April's a great time to be there.

Hopingtotravel, where do you live that "it seldom gets over 70"? I want to move there!!

Stokebailey, I love lilacs. Mine didn't bloom until July! (Alaska)

Do they bloom into May?

Do they serve drinks/food anything in the outdoor courtyards in late April/early May?

BTW, thanks for your responses.

Oh, also, is it even possible to rent a Harley in that area?

You'll probably find a few courtyards with the heaters going that time of year. May be too chilly for dinner, though.

Here is a Harley rental in Santa Fe:

Thank you BeachGirl. DH will be pleased.

Hi, hoping,

May would be lilac time too. I'll bet you'll be fine with eating and drinking in courtyards.

Sigh. Oh to be in Santa Fe when lilac time is there.

Fodorites are so awesome, and always so quick to respond. I'm sure I'll have other questions although I spent 2 hours last night reading old hotel posts on here.

I've spent a total of 6 weeks in France based on info from this board!
