Santa Fe-Thanksgiving

Hello to all. We are planning a road trip from Dallas to Santa Fe the day after Thanksgiving. We made a reservation at the Residence Inn because there are four adults (grandma, mother, husband and myself) going and we wanted a room we could all stay in. My husband and I have been to Santa Fee before but it's been a while. Does anyone have feedback regarding the Residence Inn? I realize it's not the traditional Southwest inn like so many we could have chosen I'm trying to select a "budget" priced hotel in lieu of splurging on Christmas shopping and such.

Also, I would love any suggestion on fleamarkets, antiques, scenic drives and restaurants.

THANKS!!!

Hi, check to see if the flea market near the opera, about 15 minutes north of town, is going on that time of year. (I think it is) They aren't open every day, just friday-sunday i think.

If you haven't done the high road to taos, that's my favorite drive; i also like the turquoise trail through madrid and cerillos for some funky shopping and hanging out. i have never made it to bandelier but everyone raves.

Thanks Texasgirl for the fleamarket suggestion. I'll be sure to check it out!

Any suggestions for lunch and dinner while we are there (Santa Fe or Taos)? We would also consider breakfast for a couple of mornings.

We are headed that way this weekend. Any good dining suggestions?

I loved dinner at the Inn of the Anasazi. It is a beautiful hotel with a nice bar. The restaurant is pricey -- seems to specialize in game, I think -- but very good. A nice splurge.

I love Santa Fe!!!!!!!!!!!!! The SantaCafe is very good too. The high road to Taos is awesome so many scenic little spanish towns and all the beautiful mission churches. In Taos eat at Doc Martins not to be missed!

My two sisters and I stayed at the Residence Inn a couple of years ago. I loved it there. It's a short drive to the downtown area. Our room could sleep six. A continental breakfast is provided each morning.
