santa fe/Taos itinerary

Flying into Albaquerque.(2 adults-late June) How long should we spend in Santa Fe and how long inTaos? Do we do Taos 1st, or last? Thanks

I did Taos a day trip. I wasn't that impressed with it. It's very small. The drive up there is beautiful though. Here are some of my other recommendations for that area. White Rock Overlook for a special view of the Rio Grande. Look at this website <BR><BR>http://www.sfol.com/best/riogrande.html<BR><BR>Drive to the sanctuary at Chimayo, the soil at the church supposedly has healing powers. <BR><BR>In Taos, take a drive to the Rio Grande Gorge bridge. It's another beautiful view. <BR><BR>Enjoy your trip. It's a beautiful place.

I agree w/Deborah. 3 days total, including the day in Taos, is sufficient.

I spent a weekend in Taos years ago-granted it was November so I'm sure it is prettier in warmer weather but I really, really hated it. Then last June, my parents stopped there to spend the night while on a road trip. I mentioned that they may not like it very much (they went out of their way to go) and sure enough-hated it. Just my 2 cents.

<BR><BR>To echo some other posters, I really don't see much need to stay in Taos. Not that I personally dislike Taos, it's just that there are tons of things to do around Santa Fe - Bandelier, Pute Indian Cliffs, drive out to Abiquiu, plus all the things IN Santa Fe.<BR>I do think a day trip - more for the great drive than anything - to Taos is warranted.

We just spent some time out therein December. I could not get a reservation so we stayed in Sante Fe. I had higher expectations for Taos. When we drove up there for a day trip (IMO it was beautiful in the winter), I was glad we were closer to Sante Fe and ALB. The drive to the Aerial Tram was well worth it (as well as the Acoma Reservation).
