Santa Fe restrictions?

Five or six years ago, we rented a townhouse-type condo that was about a 10 minute walk to downtown Santa Fe..it was a great location. Since then we've been told that the owners of this unit are unable to rent it anymore because of a new Santa Fe bylaw restricting short term rentals of properties within a certain radius of the town centre. What can anyone tell me about this??

Here goes - I was waiting for someone knowledgable to reply. The closest I can come to an answer is to say that in late October 2000, I stayed 2 nights in a really nice rented condo within a 5 or 10 minute walk of downtown Santa Fe.

I live there and have never heard of that restriction. There are many guest house vacations rentals all around town and as far as I know they are all still be rented to vacationers. I have friends who just rented at Fort Marcy for short-term.
