Santa Fe recommendations
Any restaurants or things I shouldn't miss? Going in September.
|
We always stay at the La Fonda...a bit pricy maybe, but right in the center of town, lots of good eats and shopping right out the door, and very historic. Cross from the Cathedral, Historic Square, and Sisters of Loretta, etc. Be sure to eat at the Shed...the best blue corn enchaladas and sopapilas in town (spelling?)

If you're going towards the end of September, be sure to check out the Taos Feast Day celebration. You can get more info on their web site - taospueblo.org.
You may also want to do a search here for restaurants - there have many posts on this already. |
Hey travel_addict, do you know when they celebrate Taos Feast Day? Your link is a dead end, and from a Google search, it appears it happened in July. I'm asking because my wife and I will be there at the end of September. We scheduled our trip around the Wine & Chili Fiesta. Taos Feast Day would be a great bonus!
Phylgardner, don't miss the charred tomato salsa at Ore House, best enjoyed along with a margarita, from their deck overlooking the plaza. |
The link you are looking for is:
http://taospueblo.com/calendar.php. The feast at the end of September is San Geronimo Day. We attended it in 2002. It is very interesting, also very crowded. There are crafts and jewelry booths set up. Also there was no picture taking at all since it was a feast day. |
Thanks for the link sharrin. But poop (:|, San Geronimo Day is the same day as the major event of the Wine & Chili Fiesta.
|
What kinds of activities do you enjoy? We returned from a week in Santa Fe on August 5th. Rented a condo within walking distance of the Plaza.

How long will you be in Santa Fe, what is your budget, and what are your interests?

You can find a really good guide right here on fodors.com Go up to the DESTINATIONS link at the top of the page and then go to Santa Fe. They do a really nice job of giving you suggestions to see the city. Also, click the New Mexico link using the drop down box at the top of the TALK page and find lots of recent threads...or simply type Santa Fe into the search box and see what comes up...lots of good recent info.
Hope this helps... Debi |
The Farmers Market on Tuesday and Saturday mornings is always fun. Lots of fresh food that of all kinds as well as other things. Sometimes there's also an artists' market, too.
