Santa Fe on Foot?
We're going to be in Santa Fe for 3 days from Albuquerque and the Balloon Festival. If we used bus service to get to Santa Fe, is it possible to see everything on foot or would taxi service be available? We may rent a car but don't want to lose sight of the small city of Santa Fe by driving through it.
Thanks,
Eileen

Eileen,

If you are primarily interested in staying around the Plaza and its neighboring areas, then it will be perfectly possible to see Santa Fe on foot. We go every year, park our car once and almost never take it out again until we leave.

From the Plaza area you can easily walk to local restaurants, shopping, museums, etc. You can even walk up the canyon and see the wonderful artisan shops there.

Again, it largely depends on how much you want to do, however, we always find plenty to do in the immediate area for three days.

Hope this helps,

Davidcs

I agree--you should be able to see and do alot in SF in 3 days without a car.

Topping for Eileen.

Yes, you don't need a car in Santa Fe for three days. There is plenty there to keep you busy, if you like shopping, art gallery hopping, and eating.

BUT, if you have a car, you could drive to Santa Fe via the Turquoise Trail, which is a gorgeous drive, and really gets you in the mood for Santa Fe. Plus, you could take a half, or whole, day and head out to Bandelier, which is another gorgeous drive which leads to some wonderful Indian cliff dwellings. Or, just hop in the car and drive a few miles outside of town to the Teseque Market where they have a wonderful, inexpensive breakfast.

Either way - have fun.
