Santa Fe Hotels

My husband and I will be coming to Santa Fe next week. Would like a hotel walking distance to the Plaza? Would you recommend the Inn at Vanessie? Any other hotels that you would recommend? Thanks so much

We were in Santa Fe several years ago and stayed at the Inn of the Governors. It was within walking distance to the Plaza-they also had a great breakfast included with the room.

What do you want to spend per night?

Do you want an B&B or a hotel?

I like the Hotel Santa Fe. It is a bit more of a walk to Old Town, but they have a free shuttle. It is also closer to Railyard area and Farmer's Market.

Istayed at the Inn at V. 3 yrs ago when it was the Water St. Inn, just before the people who own Vanessie restaurant bought the Inn. From the website now, the rooms look the same now. Rustic southwest charm, kiva fireplaces. We liked it very much, and we had dinner one night and went to listen to live music another night at Vanessie, as it is right across the parking lot. BTW,the proximity was not bothersome at the Inn; the parking lot is very large.

The Inn is on the edge of downtown. From there, you would walk down San Fransisco a few blocks to get to the Plaza area. The side of downtown where the Inn is located is quiet. No other hotels right there, and you catwalk easily to the rail yard area or downtown to eat and shop, etc.

The rooms are all very different, so be careful to pick one that meets your requirements and desires....

How does The Sage Inn compare? The Inn at Governors is all booked. Thanks

We also like the Hotel Santa Fe http://hotelsantafe.com/

The Sage is further out from the Plaza but is walkable. I would classify it as a southwest style influenced motel.

What is your price range?

I would like to stay less than $180. Thanks

I can't really compare to others, but we stayed at the La Fonda 1.5 years ago. Right on the plaza. Attached parking. It's a bit rustic (legitimately, due to age). The room wasn't particularly modern but large. They have a couple restaurants inside, and a breakfast/coffee place attached (at that time).
I seem to recall that wifi was spotty in the room.

Would you be willing to give dates of stay? That would make it a bit easier giving suggestions.

Coming June 10 to June 15

I still suggest Hotel Santa Fe:

Thanks so much for your help.

Hi Jansa, it sounds like you want a proper hotel, but since I just returned from Santa Fe last Sunday, I'll throw my 2 cents in. I had a little casita behind the Georgia O'Keeffe museum. It was much prettier than the website video tours show, and spotless, cool. Marvelous bed, quiet room, 8 jet jacuzzi tub. Close to the plaza: Chapelle Street Casitas & Casa del Toro Santa Fe. Here's the link: http://www.casitas.net. ( you can call Jody or Bruce) In your price range.

My friend was very disappointed in me for not making sure I had dinner at Amaya, the restaurant in Hotel Santa Fe. I did go to the piano bar at Vanessie, very enjoyable. Good luck - June 10 - that's right around the corner!
