Joan,

There are many nice hotels in Santa Fe, however, my favorite is "The Inn at Loretto". Situated a few blocks from the town square, The Inn at Loretto is a beautiful adobe-style full-service hotel. Many of the the rooms have balconies, it has an authentic southwestern restaurant and a very cozy lounge with nightly music and a fire place.

If you want a smaller, more intimate hotel, I would recommend the "Inn of The Anasazi(sp?). It's a beautiful little four-star hotel with one of the best restaurants in town. I think it's a little more expensive then "The Loretto" but I could be wrong.

For more info, go to santafeliving.com and click on accomodations. There you will find pictures, rates, etc.. Wherever you end up though, be sure to call the hotel directly (not the 800 #) because you can always barter for a room.

David

Second the vote to the Inn of the Anasazi. Just lovely.

We recently stayed at the Water Street Inn. Good location, well-appointed rooms, good service, and a terrific wine-and-munchies hour from 6-7 (delicious hors d'ouvres.). This is not a full-service hotel, however, but a B&B style inn. We had dinner one night at the Old House in the Hotel El Dorado, which looked beautiful (and the restaurant was top-notch---my favorite on this trip to Santa Fe, replacing my old stand-by, Geronimo).
