Santa Fe Help.........

I would like to visit Santa Fe for the 2nd time in October/November after tourist season ends if there is such a thing. I'm thinking about flying to Albuquerque and driving to SF which is what we did before. I would like to stay a night/two at Rancho de San Juan because I like Relais and Chateaux Properties. I plan to drive back to SF and stay at Inn of Five Graces of Inn of the Anasazi. Can anyone suggest the right hotel. Also I remember taking my wife to a large flea market north of SF. Is it the Tesuque Market? If so thanks. And what about several great restaurants for dinner. I remember Santa Cafe and heard about Geronimo's. I was not fond of Cayote Cafe but it's probably nice for lunch. Thanks for the help.

Yes that's the Tesuque market, but I don't know if it will still be going on at that time of year.

There are so many good restaurants...check all the Santa Fe posts on this board. My favorites include Marias and Plaza Cafe.

We have stayed at Inn of the Five Graces and visited Inn of the Anasazi. Both are in good locations so pretty even there. We prefer the decor and feel of Five Graces to the "hotel" feel of Anasazi - nice but not unique. However, Anasazi has a restaurant and bar which both are very good -- bar is small and fun to enjoy a drink before your night out. Five Graces has a nice small patio serving drinks. Intimate place. Rooms were huge and loved the service and the host. I really felt like we were "guests" and they cared about our stay. Knew us by name. Also enjoyed the compimentary goodies in the fridge and welcome snacks. No charge.

Santa Cafe won "best of" award recently. We've been many times but the service is spotty and don't appreciate the snooty attitude but it certainly has its followers. Geronimo is a very popular gourmet dining experience which is our favorite! Don't even have it on speed dial anymore as I know that number by heart! 505-982-1500!! As soon as I get the thumbs up for Santa Fe from my DH I make that phone call followed up by Ten Thousand Waves.

I agree about Coyote Cafe. Good people-watching spot in the late afternoon at the wall overlooking below but that's it.

It is the Tesuque Market you are thinking of. Last year it was opened into November -- they said it just depends on the weather. A plus is that you can really negotiate on some items as that is the end of season for most of the venders -- that's been my experience anyway. Oh! And go across 285 to Tesuque Market. You can have great margaritas and enchiladas.

Oh, another restaurant I recommend is Bistro 315, which is just a few yards from Five Graces. Also, Dragon Room Bar of Pink Adobe is a few paces away as well. Plus, I recently read that the food is being recommended again at the Pink.

I could go on forever on SF so won't bore you anymore. Do a search as there have been recent threads on restaurants and such.

Ms. Sheila..........would you recommend Inn of Five Graces or Inn of the Annasazi....I like the Anasazi as we stayed there last but the Five Graces if owned by the Garrett's and we stayed at their Lake Placid Lodge and The Point that they own. I like the looks of Geronimo. What about Rancho De San Juan. I love Relais and Chateaux properties. It looks great. We thought about one/two nights ther and 3/4 in SF. And my wife will surely take in 1000 Waves. She loves that place. Thanks........

Rancho de San Juan is out of my price range, but it's supposed to be a wonderful place to stay with excellent food.

Check the Santa Fe Reporter website, http://www.sfreporter.com, for current restaurant reviews and information. http://www.localflavormagazine.com will have some helpful info as well.

Since you've stayed at Anasazi, why not stay at Five Graces. I think the prices are pretty comparable. Just depends on what you want. There is no restaurant at Five Graces and limited bar. So if that is important to you then definately stay at Anasazi. But if you don't mind walking a few feet for a bar then Five Graces is great.

I have no experience with Rancho de San Juan so can't help with that.

ElendiPickle's website is good for restaurants. That's the source when I referred to "best of".

We loved our stay at Rancho de San Juan last summer. The drive there can be less than scenic, but the inn has a great restaurant, superb service, ver high quality amenities, and a fabulous hillside cave carved into the mountain. Recommend it highly!
