Santa Fe Bed And Breakfast
 

Mrs. Roalcl and I are strongly considering visiting Santa Fe for an anniversary trip this early September. Any recommendations on Bed and Breakfast accommocations would be appreciated. Thanks.

At this point, Taos, Taos Pueblo, and Bandalier National Monument, all places I visited when I was last there (20 years ago). We're also tossing around the idea of a balloon ride. But, I think Santa Fe itself will be enough to keep things interesting for a least a couple days.

Have a look at Fodors's Santa Fe guide book; it might swing your decision. I haven't read much of the text, but the photographs are stunning.

While technically not a B&B, we like to stay at the Inn on The Alameda in Santa Fe. Located a couple of blocks from The Plaza and one block from the art galleries in The Canyon, the IOTA is a medium-size hotel/inn (71 rooms) which offers both a buffet breakfast as well as an afternoon wine & cheese reception to its guests.

The rooms are good sized, decorated in tasteful southwestern furnishings, and feature either a kiva fireplace, private balcony or patio.

We've stayed here twice on our anniversary and found the place to be quiet and well situated for all our needs. It's very much like a cross between a B&B and a full service hotel.

What price range does the Inn fall in?

Just got back from Santa Fe yesterday; we stayed at the Hacienda Nicholas B & B. The location was great, about 3 blocks northeast of the Plaza, & an easy walk for anyone on foot (am currently on crutches). However, we stayed in the Chamisa room, which I can't recommend-much smaller than shown on website-about $211 a night. I think the Sunflower room is the same price, & is definitely larger. The B & B is also shabbier than shown on the site (guess everyone tidies up a lot for those pix).

AS for things to do, the number one thing is just to hang out on the Plaza and on Canyon Road, sampling galleries and stores. There is a nice art museum and the Palace of Governors historic museum on the plaza. For some wonderful museums, get directions to Museum Hill--American Indian Art, Folk Art, etc. four museums in one place, and a nice little cafe for when your feet wear out.

Pueblo benito has a great location and great rooms.........but ordinary breakfasts- boring eggo waffles to put in the toaster and pastrys from a box. Would not recommend the breakfasts! No better than at home :)

I'm going to Santa Fe in August -and looking for restaurant suggestions. I was only there once about 15 years ago.
Pricey (but not too pricey) and trendy are fine! Any suggestions?

The Shed is an old standby, tucked into a corner very near the plaza. NM-Mexican food. Been there for eons.

I just returned from Santa Fe on Aug 1. We ate at several nice places including El Meson (great tapas) and Rio Chama (next to Pink Adobe). Liked both of them. Osterria was nice for Italian (free dessert for birthday girl in our group). The Shed (as others have noted) was great!
