Santa Fe - A Snowy Holiday w/Pics
 

Just a post to share some of the pictures from the big snow we had in Santa Fe over the holiday. We arrived on the 27th just before the snow began. I cannot remember a more magical time in Santa Fe.

Many were unable to make it due to the closing of the Albuquerque airport and the major interstates and highways surrounding the area. Our friends were turned away at Amarillo and drove back to Oklahoma City. Good thing as they ran out of hotel rooms in Amarillo.

Anyway, enjoy the pictures!

Nice pictures, BeachGirl. What fun to be snowed in in S.F. I was there the month of Sept. and it rained every day for a week, then lots of other times. Big downpours. I didn't see the Sangres at all the first week. Poor old S.F., but I'm sure the extra water is welcome.

Don Imus said he was snowed in on his ranch south of S.F. New Year's weekend. Unbelievable. Well, Imus IS unbelievable.

A contrast to all that is Michigan has had little snow so far. For the past 3 weeks it has been in the high 40s, 50s. Just like S.F.

Would someone tell Al Gore?

Tell Al Gore what? Global warming is serious.

Artman, you seem a little intense, though we both are interested in Santa Fe and northern Michigan. I was trying to say that going around in shirt sleeves in Michigan at Christmas time is another indication that Mr. Gore may have the right idea.

Thanks for sharing, BeachGirl. We've been to Santa Fe in September the last couple years and wondered what it would be like to be there in winter. Judging by your photos, obviously... beautiful. :)

Yes, very nice! We have been having Spring like weather, with my Japanese Magnolia blooming and so is the Forsythia!

We are expecting a little chill tonight, but nothing like we used to get this time of year.

Beachbum, this was an unusual amount of snow they received within a short time - less than 72 hours. Doesn't happen often so we were glad we arrived in time for it!
And Sept/Oct are beautiful times to be in Santa Fe. The cottonwoods and aspens are all aglow. And really nice temperatures, too.

To SeniorMSU..I'm glad we agree! I feel so strongly about the greatness of Mr. Gore that I was ready to pounch if needed. Glad it wasn't.

ok, so I will change this BACK to the beautiful picutes beachgirl took, I was actually there too. I arrived the day after Christmas to see my sister. I have been living in CA for 30 years now, and yes, we have mountains, but I have not seen it snow since I was a little girl living in NY...I was truly blessed...it was so gorgeous. We left Santa Fe early tho, Fri night to get to airport (hairy drive, baby, down that big hill) took 2 hrs, ABQ airport rumored closed Sat morn. But we were able to get a flight out at noon as standbyes...because I 25 was closed, suspect that not many were able to make thir flts out...US Airways/America West did a fabulous job...got my butt home before New Years Eve...but it was the best..thanks for the pics, I only have ones of my sis' yard as we could not get out of the driveway...
