Santa Cruz area Hotel or B & B?
Can anyone recommend a good place to stay around Santa Cruz in late September? We'd like something unique, but still affordable.

I'd skip Santa Cruz and head to Cambria or Carmel (depending on your direction). Both of those towns are more scenic and much nicer.

Some people like Carmel or Cambria better than Santa Cruz, some people don't. They are completely different places. Personally, I like the Santa Cruz/Capitola area more than Carmel. That's one of the nice things about the central coast, there is something for everyone.<BR><BR>Here are a couple of websites that might be helpful.<BR><BR>http://www.bnbinns-santacruzca.org/<BR><BR>http://www.santacruzca.org/index.html<BR><BR>

For Santa Cruz B&B try The Babbling Brook in a quiet area walking distance to downtown.<BR>www.babblingbrookinn.com/index.html<BR>Try Oswalds for an upscale dinner <BR><BR>The inn at depot hill is a great B&B in capitola..they work out discounts if you ask<BR>www.innatdepothill.com/index.html

A nice hotel in Santa Cruz is the West Coast Santa Cruz Hotel www.westcoasthotels.com/santacruz<BR>Each room has a view overlooking the ocean.

It depends on where you'd like to stay and what type of hotel. We seemed to either have either B&B's or standard motel hotel. There's no real boutique type places. There's alot of motels on Ocean St. but they tend to be kinda cheesey. The Inn at Pleasure Point is really nice ,ocean views, roof top hot tub and close to Capitola Village. I think the rates around $200 a night.Around the same price range is the Inn on Depot Hill in Capitola, super nice place.Just south is Aptos, it's a small town with a beautiful beach, great restaurants and antique shops. Try the Seacliff Inn, the rooms are pretty standard but the landscaping and pool area are nice. Some good restaurants in Aptos are The Bleu Spoon,Cafe Sparrow and Southern Exsposure. Have fun!
