Santa Barbara trip in May
My husband and I will be spending 4-5 days in the Santa Barbara area in May. We are looking for a mid-priced hotel near the beach in Santa Barbara. We have already booked a B&B in the wine country.
Also, we are also thinking about going over to the Channel Islands for a day trip. From the tourbooks it is difficult to tell what is doable in one day. We appreciate information to help with the trip planning. Thanks! |
And when you say mid-priced do you mean $300 and up? Up how much? If you give more of a specific range it will be helpful.
I've just been checking this myself and the nicer hotels are filling up for May! |
I was hoping to keep under $300. More like $250 max. We like small friendly hotels. Is that realistic in SB?

At this late date for May, it's a toss up. Try Fess Parkers Red Lion, Eagle Inn, Harbor View Inn, for on the beach. Try the Montecito Inn for within walking distance and try the Upham Hotel for a nice one in walking distance of State street. You don't have to be "on" the beach to enjoy SB!

I have stayed in the Franciscan Inn a few times and really liked it...cute, cozy, "homemade" cookies in the afternoon, nice continental breakfast in the morning...a block from the beach or less.
However, its been about several years since I've stayed there so can't report any up to date info. Can't hurt to check it out. Shadow |

Check out this guy and his friends on State Street. I stopped by a couple of weeks ago and "babysat" while he went to the bathroom. I need to post the video. Rat on my lap checking out the camera, Cat investigating bugs and Dog just watching the world go by. |
Thanks for the info. Do you know anything about Brisas Del Mar? The website look attractive and rates are good. Most of the trip advisor posts are favorable.

I've never heard of that hotel or group... but thelocation is great and the price lloks right! i'd try it! :)
