On your way to Monterey, stop and take a tour of the Hearst Castle just north of Cambria.

DOn't know any Monterey Bay Lodge. If you mean Monterey Bay Inn, it's OK. Also look at the Otter Inn in Monterey. Sea Otter in Cambria is good. You could probably do better than the Days Inn in Santa Barbara. Someone recently suggested Franciscan Inn which is in the same price range.

The Blue Whale Inn (not to be confused with the Blue Dolphin Inn) in Cambria is simply the BEST!! You must stay there.
Brophy Bros Seafood is a famous casual seafood joint not far from the Days Inn In SB. Our favorite hotel there is the Harbor View Inn. Be sure to take a walk up and down State Street and be sure to stop in to McConnell's Ice Cream.

In Cambria, be prepared for no night life, everything closes down around 5pm. Very quaint, small. The ride up the coast is VERY scenic but VERY nervewracking. You don't want to do it between 3 and 7pm on a Fri, or on a Saturday or Sunday when traffic can be deadly.

We've enjoyed the Casa Munras in Monterey

While there isn't a big nightlife in Cambria, some of the stores actually stay open until 10 pm 7 days a week. Be sure to stop in and check out the art glass collection at Seeker's.
