Santa Barbara: SB Inn - Harbor View Inn or Fess Parker?

My husband and I will be staying one night in Santa Barbara this month (April 2004). Got a good rate at Santa Barbara Inn. For about $40 more can go for the Harbor View...is Harbor View a superior hotel (location, grounds, rooms) ?? May try for Fess Parker on Priceline...looking for good location and nice, clean rooms for the night. Any thoughts are appreciated!

Hi CBT..
these hotels are on the same street, about 1 mile apart. In either case, be sure and request an oceanfront room. In my opinion, the Harbor View is a better location, more centrally located, just across the street from Stearns Wharf.

I would be wary of the Santa Barbara Inn. While the location is great and the restaurant gets rave reviews, the hotel, IMO looks really old and tired. Read the reviews on tripadvisor.com. For the extra money I would stay at the Harbor View which most people love.

Harbor View is great. Ask for a room on the top floor(I think there are only 2 floors), as these have nice cathedral ceilings. There is a nice pool, and good location right across from the pier.

The Fess Parker is another one that may have been great once, but Motel 6 has better, cleaner, and more comfortable rooms.
