Sanibel with small dog

Looking for some advice on best lodging and things to do with small dog on Sanibel Island, Florida! Middle aged couple with adult daughter, spending 3-4 days in late November. Interested in shelling, boat trips, maybe kayaking, etc. appreciate whatever help you can offer.

You might consider Mitchell's Sandcastles as a pet-friendly lodging but it is geared toward those who prefer to self-cater.

Thank you, Mitchell’s may be a good option... we like the idea of having a kitchen for breakfasts and lunch meals perhaps. I know there are also condo’s that can be rented but I’m not sure if the ‘dog friendly’ requirement is a big limitation. I also think I like the location, being mid-island, it might be nice to walk the beach towards either end.

We have used Mitchell's several times and liked it. Right on the beach with its own pool, etc. It is apparently quite popular with some and the cottages/accommodations are reserved months in advance.

Keep an eye on the red tide... some scientists have predicted another 12 to 18 months....

Garyt22 brings up a very good point and you need to remain aware of that situation.

Thanks for the info about the red tide... that is worrisome - we are likely just going to shift our trip later to either spring or early summer 2019. Appreciate the advice. This will give us more time to decide on lodging anyway.
