Sanibel - opinions on where to stay
Hi everyone,
My husband and I will be traveling with our kids (who will be 3 and 1 y.o.) to Sanibel Island in September. We are looking for recommendations on places to stay that are gulf front and preferably have a pool. We don't need the room/condo to be fancy but definitely want a clean place that has a kitchen so we can prepare some of our own meals. We are also looking to spend under $1000 for the week. Thanks for your time!

I haven't stayed here, so I can't give you a personal recommendation, but we were at a nearby beach this winter and I made a mental note of The Castaways, because I thought it looked absolutely charming, and that it would be fun to stay there. It's on the gulf, has a pool and offers a variety of room types/units, some with kitchenettes. It looked low-key, sort of old-fashioned and away from the main, built-up part of Sanibel.

jubilada's trip report may be helpful. She liked their cottage choice -
