Sanibel-Captiva Restaraunts

Spending Thanksgiving week at South Seas. We usually vacation on Siesta Key, but wanted to try something different. For the first time, our oldest can babysit, so we plan to slip out a few times for a nice dinner. Any suggestions?? Also we plan to drive to Naples to take a relative out for T-giving dinner. Last year we took her to the Ritz and it was terrible. Any suggestions for a good traditional meal.

Our kids took us to the Sanibel Steakhouse for our 50th anniversary last summer and it was excellent. I hear Bubbles is also a good place to go. And the Mucky Duck is a good place, but not fancy.

We ate at the Mucky Duck. It is not fancy but if timing is right, there is a gorgeous sunset. This place sits on the Ocean. Good service and decent food.

Sorry, I have to disagree with the others about Mucky Duck. We were on Sanibel in April and went there for lunch, so of course seeing the sunset wasn't part of the experience for us. But I think it should tell you something if that's the best thing anyone can say about it.

Our experience was that the food was so-so and the service was atrocious. I will never understand all of the positive "buzz" that place gets; we wouldn't go back there unless someone was pointing a gun at our heads. Next time we'll try the Green Flash, which friends (who vacation there every year) tell us is excellent.

If The Mucky Duck faces the Ocean, then it's not on Sanibel or Captiva. The nearest ocean is over a hundred miles from there!
