Sanibel Accommodations
Can anyone tell me the best accommodation options for traveling with 2 kids to sAnibel? Sundial looks good but are there any ways to get a discounted price (in February no less)? Any other good options?

Discounted price in February? Highly unlikely. Are you looking for a place that has kid's activities? If you can forgo a resort with kid's activities, you can probably find a place for less on the island. What ages are the kids?

The kids are 4 and 1 1/2. We don't need kids activities but do need to be on the beach and have a pool.

Hi
We stayed at the Holiday Inn on Sanibel in Feb 04. It has a pool and is a few steps from the beach. Can't remember the cost but it was definitely not exorbitant. |
There are lots of properties that might fit your needs. I would check out tripadvisor.com to see the highest ranked places and go to the individual websites of any that sound good to you. I think it's a good idea to have a pool with the kids! Here's another website to check out:

Just curious....can you be sure of swimming weather on Sanibel in February?! I've always thought that was chancy. Maybe you don't care but seeing that your only requirements for the children were a pool and the beach, I thought I'd ask. I've never been so I'm really just stirring the pot here...

Depends on what you call swimming weather. When I was a kid in Tampa, we would go to Clearwater Beach in the winter wearing jackets and sweaters to watch the crazy Yankees swimming. When I moved to New England many years later, I learned that NE water temperatures in summer are similar to those in the Sanibel-Naples area in winter, +/- 70-73 degrees. If it is not windy, this is pretty pleasant, though we wouldn't have gone in the water unless it was at least 80! |
