I haven't stayed here but I attended a seminar at the Sheraton on Harbor Island - which is a stone's throw from the airport. Large, very nice public rooms, seems to cater somewhat to the business traveler...

Kim.

ref sheraton - prices are horrendous tough - v9a sheraton direct $264 or other discount websites $179 were the cheapest
but i got a room for 2 for 3 nights in septembe at $75 per room via priceline.com - worth making a low offer especially if your visit is soon and they may need to fill the rooms
good luck gary leeds uk

The AAA book lists Airport
Accommodations as follows:

Two Diamond
Best Western Posada at the Yacht Harbor $99-159.
Ramada Limited Harborside $99-199
Both 1.8 miles from airport.
Three Diamond
Hilton San Diego Airport/Harbor Island $199-244 .5 miles from airport
Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina $305-345 .3 miles from airport
Holiday Inn-San Diego Bayside $129-159 1.8 miles from the airport.
I think all except the Ramada provide airport transportation without a fee.
The Best Western provides a Continental Breakfast with the room.

The Sheraton on Harbor Island is definitely the most convenient hotel to the airport. I would guess its not more than a one minute taxi or shuttle ride. You can probably save some money if you want to be 5-10 minutes away at the Holiday Inn Bayside.
