Sandels Resorts in Jamaca

Has anyone gone to the Sandels Resorts in Jamaca? I think thats the spelling. I am wondering if they are any good. I understand they have a plan that includes meals, drinks, entertainment, and airfare. It seems too good to be true.

My hubby and I stayed at Sandals-Negril, which is the resort on Seven-Mile Beach on the west edge of Jamaica. From talking to a lot of people, this was the nicest of the Jamaican Sandals resorts. It's also the best for sunset watching! However, it is also quite a twisty and winding drive from the airport (and the other Sandals resorts, making it difficult to do the resort-hopping they allow). The other Sandals resorts on Jamaica are along the northern coast. When we were there, 75%25 of the couples were honeymooners. It makes for a really romantic atmosphere, and you can get as involved or not as you want to in the many activities going on. We found the restaurants to be quite good, and the lodgings were comfortable although not luxurious (although we got the least expensive rooms). Sandals resorts in general win the highest praises for the all-inclusive resorts, so I don't think you could go wrong with them. Talk to one of their reps to see which resort they recommend for your likes and dislikes.

My wife and I went to the Sandals at Montego Bay for our honeymoon five years ago. Fantastic place, the natives were really friendly and you could do as much or little as you wanted. Everything at the place is free including booze, food. One thing, they have specialty restaurants in each place, take time when you first get there to make reservations in each as the food in those are better than the standard buffet fare (although the buffet is pretty good). Everything else from waterskiiing to scuba was free. Place was nice. we upgraded to a nice room and loved it. The only things that cost are taking side trips like on the catamaran/snorkle (big fun) or a trip to Dunn's River Falls, going into town, etc. Do go into town, have one of the bartenders set you up with a cousin/guide that owns a car. Montego was great and had great deals on jewelry, music, booze and cigars. Would go back in a minute. Had more fun with the people we met, both natives and other guests, than I would have ever imagined. One warning about Montego bay sandals is it is right next to the airport and is noisy on and off from 9 am to 9 pm but they make a game out of it so it's not really that annoying after the first day. We liked Montego because it was near the airport. Ocho Rios is like a 3 to 4 hour bus ride after the hellish airplane ride (We came in from Seattle) and Negril is a couple of hours. both on windy roads and both take away from time on the beach. Have fun. If you have any questions, you can e-mail me.

My husband and I honeymooned at Sandals/Dunns River 2 years ago. It came highly recommended to us and we thoroughly enjoyed everything. The booze cruise of snorkeling and visiting Dunns River was fabulous - the views are incredible. The drive from the airport is about 1 1/2 hours - fairly windy but not quite as bad as the trip to Negril. I would recommend not staying in Montego Bay if possible. The Negril & Ocho Rios resorts are newer and the food is better (not excellent but good). No complaints on anything. One point - if you do not drink alcohol, the price is quite high. If you do, it's a fabulous deal & you don't have to pay for a thing!
