Can anyone recommend nice places to stay and eat in the SLO/Pismo Beach area. For lodging, target price is probably $90-$140 per night for a double room. <BR> <BR>Thanks. <BR> <BR>john

John, you're in luck; yes, I can. We were in Pismo last April for a Christening and I can definitely recommend the Best Western Shore Cliff Lodge. The following website handles online reservations, but you can probably call them directly or through the "Best Western" chain of motels. It isn't a huge facility, the rooms are very nice and we requested and received an ocean view room. We were pleasantly surprised at having a very good dinner in their on-site (but in a separate building) restaurant which has walls of glass to take advantage of the view. Even their weekend rate would fall into your price range; the weekday rate dropped so much we stayed over the Sunday night to enjoy the area a bit more. Be sure to ask for any discount for which you may be eligible -- AAA, senior citizen, AARP. <BR>You don't say when you plan to visit the area but I will tell you that during the summer (may have started now), there's a "street market" every Thursday night in SLO, food vendors, arts and crafts, some street entertainers, etc. SLO can get very hot during the summer days; it's just enough inland to make a big difference from Pismo and the other small adjoining beach communities. <BR> <BR> <BR>http://www.travelhero.com/prophome.c...ons/index.html <BR> <BR>

Morro Bay is another nice little town with interesting rocks in the water. If you stay a block off the water and during the week (Sun-Thurs) there should be lots in your price range.Lots of AAA discounts as well. Try looking at the Cottage Inn (www.cottage-inn.com) in Pismo Beach and the Baywood B&B in Morro Bay (www.baywoodinn.com)

We stayed at the Best Western Shore Cliff 2 weekends ago. We really enjoyed it. The views are wonderful and our kids loved the outdoor heated pool. <BR>We've also stayed at the Sea Venture (also in Pismo) which we like a little more. It's right on the beach, while Shore Cliff is on the cliffs. Sea Venture also has a wonderful on-site restaurant (although not nearly as kid friendly as the Shore Cliff).

Forgot to tell you. The Sea Venture sometimes run specials in Sunset magazine. Look in the front vacation advertising section.

We've only stayed at the Best Western Shore Cliff. They have a good Sunday brunch, with lots of seafood and champange. <BR> <BR>As far as restaurants we like an Italian restaurant in Shell Beach, same road as the motel about a mile north on the left. Also the area is known for their oak wood bbq's so there are allot of steak houses around, our favorites are McClintock's in Shell Beach, Jocko's in Nipomo, and Hitching Post in Casmalia. <BR> <BR>If you are looking for something a little different to do in the evening. The Great American Melodrama in Oceano is fun. A vaudeville play with villian, damsel in distress, and hero. Performers are also the waiters.

in SLO the best place to stay is the garden street inn. we usually stay in the amadeaus room, but all the rooms there are really nice. breakfast is awesome and served at seperate tables. very quiet at night, but really close to downtown shops and restauarants. had dinner the last time we were there at buena tavolo (sp?) and it was AWESOME.

We stayed at Historic Santa Maria Inn($89.00 corp).I would not reccommend it. We stayed at the Sea Crest last time we were in Pismo. When we drove by the Cottage I noticed not all the rooms were water view. It was cute though. <BR>We had a GREAT beakfast (tri-tip and eggs)at Brad's in Pismo Beach. We had a nice time at Steamers (next store to the Kon Tiki)also.It has a panoramic view for dinner. We also stopped at Avila Beach. If you take that exit (towards SLO) you will find a long pier you can drive or walk to. On the very end you will find a place called Old Post Inn. Great Jumbo Mexican Stuffed (with Jack Cheese) and wrapped with bacon,prawns.
