San Jose Airport to Paso Robles
 

Flying in mid May..renting car ..heading to Paso Robles
Any tips airport ..car rentals..traffic..route to PR.
We'll be arriving on a Wed around noon.

The fast way down 101 will take about 2.5 hours. The more scenic route down the coast will take more than 5 hours plus stops.

Assuming you want the faster route -- couldn't be more straight forward. Just follow the signs to 101 South (about 1/2 a mile) and get off 101 160 miles later in Paso Robles.

We always rent from Alamo (go through Costco if you're a member) in San Jose. If you arrive at Terminal A, you take a shuttle to the car rental counter. If you arrive at Terminal B (where we have always arrived), you simply walk to the counter across from baggage claim. SJC is a super "easy" airport to navigate.

Agree with janisj, just hop on the 101 and head south. Easy drive that shouldn't take longer than 2.5 hours. If you want to stop somewhere nice for lunch, I suggest downtown Morgan Hill, about a half hour south of the airport.

The Steinbeck House in Salinas serves lunch and there is a museum, in case you are a literary history aficionado.

And that time if day, traffic shouldn't be an issue at all. Morgan Hill does make a good stop for lunch. Check out The Good Fork or Trail Dust BBQ :)
