San Francisco Where to stay HELP
Me again. I need help? Ok, ok enough with the jokes running through your head. I still don't know where we should stay. We've never been to San Francisco. Does anyone have any recommendations? We're open to B&B's or hotels. I keep looking at reviews and most of them are mixed. Like I said I need help. We will have a 2 yr old with us. Thanks

There are 4 areas to stay - Fisherman's Wharf, Embarcadero, Union Square and Van Ness corridor. Pick any, depends on what you're looking for, what you want to be close to, will you have a car?

Besides location about how much do you want to spend per night ashoebri? Does your 2 year old sleep in a crib or a bed? Do you need a suite? Would a sofabed be alright for him? Will you have a car or do you plan on using public transportation? Also, have you checked Trivadvisor.com? SF has lots of accomodations so for sure there is something out there that will work for you.

I haven't been to SF yet so I'm not in the best position to answer this, however, I'm going in a couple of weeks and asked this same question about a mth ago. A lot of people recommended to me that I should stay in the Cow Hollow/Marina area since it is more of a neighborhood with a real SF feel vs Union Square or some of the other neighborhoods. We are choosing to stay at the Hotel Del Sol. We tried to get a room at the Union St Inn which looks adorable and is right on Union St - great area - but it was booked. Maybe you will have better luck. I'll write a trip report in a few weeks and let you know!!

P.S. Hotel Del Sol seems very good for kids and also has a free parking lot so if you want a car, it's a def benefit.

we stayed at Grovesnor Suites - right behind the famous Mark Hopkins. 1 block from CA cable car, with 3 kids. Very nice! Great location, walk to union sq and other spots, easy walk to cable car. they even offer free small breakfast(in a small room)we took it back up to our nice suite

Again depends on your objectives, budget and if you will have a car - but here are a few thoughts...
Try a Suite at the Cow hollow Motor Inn (is nice than it sounds). This is near marina and union street which is nice, and suites are great for kid life. For me I prefer it to the Union Square area. Also try check out the Hotel Del Sol http://www.jdvhospitality.com/suites/ Also in same area - they have some suites too. I have never stayed there but I like the properities of this hotel group. Good luck |
Thanks everyone for your help. I will check out all the suggestions. Cheers
