San Francisco Weather
 

Hello, I know it is still kind of early but, I am "a little concerned" with the weather, I would really hate to not be able to enjoy clear blue skies ;) I keep reading about roads closed, and hoping it gets better. Can someone tell me if the rain has gone away will be there end of May. I know it's kind of early but I can't wait!

Rain is still off and on but the end of May should be gorgeous. It will be cold too so dress in layers....

Thanks for your help, I was sort of scared about the cold part one of my friend, she is terrified of the cold (anything under 80 is cold for her) :)))
guess they'll have to deal with it. Questions is the weather in Monterey the same of does it get hotter there?

Trust me - you don't want 80F in SF. Well 80 isn't horrible but it will feel a lot hotter than that. By 85F, people are sweltering.

It can be a bit warmer near Monetery but no guarantees.

We can always tell the tourists in SF - shorts, blue legs, and brand new sweat shirts :)

But actually May is pretty good - it is usually colder in June/July.

In Feb we had a record heatwave. In March we had record rains. If it rains one more day in April (it's forcasted to rain on the weekend) we will have record rains for April.

Now - you ask about May??????

Yes who can predict the weather, LOL?! It sure is nicer now, and hopefully you'll be okay in May. Still it could be brezzy so bring layers, and don't expect 80's in the city.

San Francisco is the one place I have been that seems to have less predictable weather than my home city (Seattle).

It can literally change from block to block within the city. Definitely layers. And for your fearful friend, just make sure she has one warm sweater and a windbreaker along.

I was just thinking about that myself Suze. In Union Square or Market Street, you can be wearing shirt sleeves. Then down by the Marina/ GG Bridge, you need a heavy jacket with a hood, LOL. Hopefully there won't be rain then, but you never know. :-)

As it warms up and gets close to summer then you have to worry about the fog...not the rain.

It rarely gets up to 80 in San Franicsco. Usually there's a break of nice weather in April and May, between the winter storms and the summer fog, but this year it's only just beginning now at the end of April (but more rain is on the way this weekend). Even when the weather's good, it's usually just into the 70s in the city. More often it'll be high 60s at the most and lower the closer you get to the ocean. Hey it did once reach 100 degrees in San Francisco, but that was once. Occaisionally it will top 80 in September/October. In summer it's lucky to hit 70.

If you really want warmer weather you can go inland, to Napa, Walnut Creek or San Jose, or just down to Redwood City where the climate is best, by government test.
