North Carolina-Buggs Island and Kerr Lake

Hi,
My family has a lakefront house and some land at the North Carolina/Virgina border on Buggs Island L.
We don't get there too often, and are thinking that we might rent it out.
Can anyone from NC tell me if this area is considered desirable for people who live somewhere like Chapel Hill? (We're trying to figure out how to research this in a fairly low-key way).
Thanks in advance for any answers or suggestions.

I'm from the area you're trying to target and I don't know many people who look in that area for a second home/vacation spot.

Kerr Lake would be close enough for a day trip for boating, fishing, recreation, etc.

Also near Chapel Hill/RTP area is Jordan Lake. Nice big lake (when there isn't a drought) with lots of boating and recreational opportunities.

Most people I know with boats go towards the Wilmington area. Same for vacation homes/condos.

The Kerr Lake area isn't all that developed nor marketed towards NC. I'm thinking around Clarksville, VA, though I do know the Kerr Lake/Lake Gaston area goes farther east. Maybe the Richmond or Roanoke areas would be a better target zone?

thanks NCgrrl,
In fact, the place isn't far from Clarksville. I asked about Chapel Hill because we first ended up there through family friends on the faculty at Duke. A group of them had houses there.
I'll research those other areas!

Most Roanoke people head to Smith Mountain Lake.

Put it on VRBO.com and see what happens.

North Carolinians usually head to the beaches.

If not that, it is really hard to beat the beauty of Lake Keowee.

I will be the first to admit I've never heard of either of these places. We typically opt for the Mts. or the Beach. Cyber rentals is another option.
